I can't believe it's already the 25th... where did Rocktober go? Today... looked at an apartment on Doheny, building was very promising, vacant apartment not so much. I'll keep my eye on it for other vacancies though... the kitchen floors were black and white tiles! However there was no parking, no AC and one washer & dryer for the 16 unit building. Definitely not worth the black and white tiles...
Next was the gym. It was so empty and wonderful. I did a workout that would make Rui proud! Kettle bell swings, chin ups, push ups, 15 lb arm weights (and spinning and abs and glutes obvi) - all that was missing was him calling me "Megan" (Fox) and Honey Bunny!
I then came home to do my dreaded drafting homework. However I then got an email from Marianne Yoannou saying that she and Jon had arrived in LA and wanted to take me for dinner. This stressed me out because i'd heard whispers that the drafting homework took 6 hours so i was thinking i wouldnt be done and would be up til all hours of the night and was kicking myself for not doing it on thursday or friday, but silly me, being the drafting rockstar that i am, I got it done in a hot minute. Aka two hours. While drafting I heard all kinds of kids yelling and heard B drive by on his motorcycle. I ignored it cause sightings like these have become quite frequent in the past two weeks. However, I then heard a familiar deep female voice and ran to the window! It was HER! A was sitting on the ledge on the side of the road directly in front of my car! So of course I found it necessary to go "get my ipod from my car" at that moment, so with my heart pounding, I did. I looked at her, smiled and said hi, and she returned my smile & hi. She's just as beautiful in real life and soooooo skinny. I want her frail veiny arms!
John & Marianne were staying at the Fairmont in Santa Monica so I met them at the bar there for drinks and then we walked to Boa. Definitely liked the decor of the Hollywood one better than SM. But the food was delicious as always (40 day old aged striploin steak, mashed potatoes, spinach, warm cookie & ice cream dessert). And I wished that I appreciated wine more because they ordered an $150 bottle. It was soooooooooo nice seeing them - and was funny because it just felt so normal to see them and to talk about the corporate families and the office and the club (and boys and love and weddings and celebrities and etc etc etc) but made me really miss home! And then all the way home I was singing along to songs that really required people to be singing along with me (Reesy - Jimmy Eat World, Bruce Springsteen, Derek - Muse & Blink, Rob Marrs - Less Than Jake, and the Fall Out Boy Christmas song even though I never really sing that one with anyone else - Christmas is 2 months away). I'm homesick! But i'm obvi sooooooo loving that i'm here. It's late. Might be getting up at 6 to hike with Leigh... Jesus.
October 24
Amazing day. Hiked to the peak with Leigh then cruised down to HB to surf with Surfer Drew. I called him when I got down there and told him i'd come pick him up at his house. He then gave me directions to go to a gated community, punch in gate code blah blah blah and I totally thought he was joking cause I was pretty sure he lived in some shanty town beside the smoke stacks along the highway. So I drive to the shanty town (beside a trailer park) and I realize that it is in fact gated! But it's totally weird and is just some community of shacks set up in trailer park formation (not real roads, just small laneways lined with little houses). But then I go inside and it's so cute and wonderful! I expected squalor - he is a surfer dude after all, but it was so nice, with such nice furniture and kitchen appliances and it was so clean and smelled SOOOO delicious - like HSS chai lattes! I wanted to move in. He told me I could for $500 a month. Score!
So us and his roommate John went to the pier, i was terrified because the waves were huge, Drew told me I was gonna get pummelled, I said i'd last 5 mins. But I got out there and was actually good! Like I can legitimately say that I can surf now! It was amazing! Drew is my good luck charm. I had so much fun but my arms were sooooo tired so I tanned on the beach while they surfed. I then went home, bought some pink lidded containers for spinach soup storage, read in the backyard, made a delicious pasta dinner (quinoa pasta) and ate in the backyard with Leigh, and then we got ready for my first night out since i've been here. First on the agenda: a strip club. Purpose: role research for Leigh's movie. We met up with the other actress and her friend and the wardrobe girl Zoe. First we tried The Body Shop. The parking guys asked us if we were there to work. We laughed. They told us that girls didn't go on til 10 (it was 8). Next stop, some place on La Cienega. I ran in while Leigh waited in the car, it was empty and the lights were on. Next stop: Crazy Girls, across from Leigh's school, the same strip club that Megan Fox frequented in her early LA days because she had a crush on a stripper. Anyways, so we go up to the door, once again get asked if we were there to work, once again burst out laughing. Our time there was actually quite enjoyable - the girls didn't get naked! So that made for a good non-akward time. Apparently in LA you can't serve alcohol if the girls are naked so there's "strip clubs" where the girls just dance. So we stayed there for about an hour, two guys came over to leigh and I after the other girls had left and thought we were strippers. When we told them that we weren't, one told me that i was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, and the other told Leigh that he'd never smelled anyone that smelled as good as her. It was quite flattering.
Next stop was a concert by some mutual friend of someone from Leigh's school. He was pretty good. The AADA crowd was there and Jess and I decided that our mission for next week is to find hot boys to make out with. There were none at the show. After we all came back to Valley Oak and had a bonfire and made s'mores. Being Canadian, I was the obvious choice for firestarter and let me tell you, I would've made David Potter proud! I constructed a perfect fire for marshmellow roasting. I also instructed people on proper s'more technique - put the chocolate on the crackers and nestle them near the fire so your chocolate is pre-melted. I ate way too many, and then made cookies for everyone. It was a wonderful night of good wholesome fun! (Minus the strip club part).
