January 11 - 18

January 11

Woke up and my beloved Leigh was home from Florida. We caught each other up on our weekends, I hiked, did some administrative annoying stuff, and then headed on down to San Pedro to get Ben to do an oil change on my car. I realized that it wasn't just my oil that needed changing, it was time for the 20 000 mile servicing. So Ben and I spent a fabulous 5 hours together, changing oil, changing tranny fluid (by mistake), going out to buy more oil and tranny fluid (three times), eating wintergreen lifesaves, swirly gummy bears and peanut m&ms, and delicious mexican food from the place next door. I love car stuff. I'm such a boy.

January 12

Was awakened by my phone at 5:45 a.m.... mom calling to tell me that Nana died :( Spent the morning crying and doing homework. Was supposed to hike with Brandon but he cancelled again. Personal trainer. Home to read and listen to classical music and cry in the backyard. I love our backyard desperately. Brandon came over at like 10:00 (so annoyingly late). We went to pinkberry, went to his office to pick up instructions for some detox diet, caused trouble with ryan's facebook, went grocery shopping for vegetables and then he drove me home.

January 13

There is no detail in these posts because its the 18th now and very hard to remember details of my days. During of one these days I was followed by a coyote on the hike. Terrifying.

Hike. School. Brandon met me at school, hung out in my classroom, people thought he was the teacher, we went to visit his mom, she was busy as usual. Class. Class. Babysitting after class. The parents said they'd be back by 10, they were back at 12:30. I had to get up at 6:30 the next morning :(

January 14

Got up at the crack of dawn (literally) to go to school to drop my course cause i couldnt do it online. Dropped it, had nothing to do for 3ish hours, so i went and hung out at Brandons office. I did homework while he bought stocks and rearranged his computer screens. Class. I love autocad. Class. I love history lecture classes. Went to the annex to do my autocad homework, went home, stopped at Gelsons to buy vegetables for dinner. Cooked dinner. Cooked vegetables for Brandon and brought them to his house for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised about the state of his apartment. Nicely furnished, so clean, fridge and cupboards stocked with really good healthy food! Watched Sunshine Cleaning... didn't really like it. Apparently I don't like movies these days.

January 15

Pilates with Myara. Spinning. Came home to a movie set house (so annoying) and got ready for Big Bear (which was extremely difficult cause i had to be quiet when the strangers were filming). Leigh came home at 3:30 and we were on the road by 4. 3 hours of annoying traffic and scary mountain roads later, we arrived at Monkey's chalet, were greeted with cheers and lifted-up hugs by Dave & Jordan. Photography action commenced, so did Jordan's jacket wearing action. (Jordan had several sick jackets there, Leigh and I were wearing them). Dinner was cooked by the boys and two random girls (it was kind of painful to watch them... no multitasking at all... Leigh and I eventually had to step in). We had a delicious dinner of chicken and steak fajitas... the chicken was amazingly marinaded. Good job boys! Party action commenced, Leigh/Christine/Dave/Jordan bedroom action commenced... and by action I mean the rearranging of beds. The top bunk slats were literally splintered in two, ready to impale me if Leigh came crashing through the rickety top bunk, so Jordan and Dave switched the top and bottom support things. Thank God for earplugs, although i still got a pretty terrible sleep.

January 16

8 am wakeup call! Leigh, Dave and i got up at 8 am. Dave went to starbucks and the grocery store for Leigh and I, while we got ready in our matching one-piece suits! Black for Leigh, White for me. Sat around being all cozy and excited and dancing and wearing goggles sideways and waking up everyone else. We didnt make it to the hill until like 11 (boys needed to stop to get food, leigh needed a wrist brace) so Leigh, Dave, Jordan & I decided to just do half day passes, so we had lunch until the half day passes went on sale at noon. Riding was wonderfullllll, except that at the bottom it was insanely crowded, so we just did the top half (a double black diamond that totally wasnt a double black diamond) over and over cause it was so empty and so perfect. It was soooo bizarre looking out from the chairlift and seeing desert and mountains that arent covered in snow. It was also sooooo warm and wonderful!

After our day of riding, we had to wait around for soooooooo long to take the cattle-car shuttle to the parking lot (leigh and i went with the boys). When we finally got to the car (we were frozen solid), it was decided that Jordan shouldn't be driving because he hit his head really hard (twice) on the last run and looked like he was gonna keel over and die. So i drove.

We had made fool proof plans that we were gonna go straight to dinner, since we were starving and didnt wanna waste time going back to the house, but of course everyone else wanted to go home and get changed (not everyone had the luxury of one piece suits that keep you perfectly dry), so i decided not to go for dinner since by the time we were done, it would be way too late to drive home. Soooo i got a caramel brule latte from starbucks for dinner, and sang the whole way home to various snowboarding music from the past (LTJ, Bloc Party, TI, Of Montreal)... Arrived home with my goggles still on my rearview mirror, where they'll stay until the next time. Did my sketching homework. Went to sleep all alone in a big empty house.

January 17

Woke up. Hiked. Tried to tan for an hour. Drafted all day long. Had a lovely sushi dinner with Leigh. Drafted some more. Took a desperate housewives break. Finished drafting.

January 18

No hike cause it was raining. So I went out first thing to buy my glue and pins for my model and did some grocery shopping. Started in on model making while watching The Wizard of Oz - twice, with and without commentary... but i didnt make it through much of the commentary one. Took a break to bake Williams Sonoma gingerbread loaf for Leigh. Took another break to eat it. We sat on the white couches and had a lovely little tea party. Finished my model, the rain stopped so I went for a hike, made dinner (brocolli and an egg. delicious). And then went to pilates. It was a really wonderful class and i looooove being in the Harmony studio at night. So cozy. After pilates Leigh and I had hot chocolate and watched the bachelor.

The End.
