WestCoastBestCoast: Days 23 - 35

Day 23
I was quite exhausted from all this working out so I decided to take a chill out day. But first, we had to hike. Leigh and I prepared bottles of fat burning lemonade and headed out. We opted for ipods because music is so much more motivating than talking, and talking gets really hard at the steep parts.

An hour and ten-ish minutes later we were back home, doing ten minutes of abs, with visions of cupcakes dancing in our heads. I made a pilgrimage to sprinkles, got a free lemon-coconut for whispering the code word "TGIF", got dave a milk chocolate and leigh and me chai latte and pumpkin to split. We had our lemon coconut at lunchtime and it might actually be my new favourite. There was SO much icing on it and the lemony-ness is just so fresh! But vanilla milk chocolate is just so classic that it'll always be my real favourite.

All afternoon I lounged around, tanning and reading in the backyard. Upon Leigh's return after rehearsal we ate dinner in the backyard and split our two cupcakes. Chai Latte was SUCH a disappointment! Not nearly as good as I remembered! Pumpkin was fabulous as usual, but not as good as the lemon coconut!

I feel guilty for not doing anything productive today. So I have big plans for tomorrow (even though tomorrow's a weekend and i hate weekends). Leigh and I are doing the morning hike, I'm gonna go to Malibu to tan and surf if it's not too crowded (perhaps surfer drew will join me?), then off to Studio City to go book shopping (because I don't want to battle a mall parking garage on a weekend) because I desperately need a good book. Any suggestions?

Day 24
My apologies for my lack of pictures. It's no fun taking pictures when there's no one to take them of!

I'm exhausted. Leigh and I were watching the movie Auntie Mame and were both complaining that we didn't feel tired but our eyes wanted to close. "My face feels heavy" "Like i've been swimming with my eyes open in chlorine for too long!" It was very weird. The movie however was sooooo wonderful. Gotta love classics!

So we did the hike today and when we got to the peak Leigh was like "let's go further" so we did. And then when we got to the paved road i was like "should we go to the top?" so we did. Two and a half hours later we were home doing abs and drinking aloe. I was dead.

So what does a girl do when she has a zombie body but she doesn't feel like sitting around doing nothing? She packs up her surfboard and heads to Malibu! Lucky for my limbs, the waves were non-existant so there was no surfing. I just hung out on the beach and read because it was OVERCAST! It was amazing. I"d been dreaming of an overcast day and Malibu made it happen. (Because as soon as I got back on the 101 the sun was out in full force once again). Oh, and by the way, Malibu Canyon Road for some reason makes me the happiest girl ever.

After my lovely afternoon in Malibu, Leigh and I walked to the grocery store and the green store to get dinner stuff/some sort of healthy shot. Leigh had halibut and squash and veggies, I had a salad and poached salmon. Ryan came on facebook chat live from Sydney and we talked for a bit, apparently his "hostel" is a hotel with a pool. Nice.

After dinner we both cuddled up on the white couches and tried to read (the online 5th Twilight book for me, a play for Leigh). Our eyes were closing, my vision was getting blurry from trying to read a book on a computer screen (scrolling is no fun), so we decided that we must watch a movie. Auntie Mame was soooooo wonderful even though it was like 3 hours long! Gotta love classics.

Talked to Derek live from G Bay, he told me to continue living like a rockstar and that he's proud of me. Cute. Leigh and I spent the rest of the night DYING of hunger and contemplating whether or not to get pinkberry/coldstone (we didn't) because we didnt have any treats today. I did some calculations and realized that with our huge walk I had a caloric deficit. Definitely not good. Better get into the positive numbers tomorrow with some Sprinkles!!!

Tomorrow is going to be an official lazy day... but only because i'm tired of washing my hair!

Day 25
Have I mentioned how much I love threetimeteatime? I'm sitting here on the couch in the backyard, in the shade of the umbrella, drinking tea, reading a book (at least i was reading until i picked up my computer) and eating a buckeye and half a chocolate/cheesecake brownie (split with dave) from Big Sugar.

Have I mentioned that my Sprinkles loyalty is fading? Big Sugar is starting to win my heart - not that their cupcakes are better (nothing can beat sprinks), but I just loooove the actual big sugar store, i love their squares and buckeyes, and i love that it's in studio city. For some reason I really really love studio city, it's just so quaint! I wish I could buy Fred Mollin's old house and live there!

So today Leigh wouldn't let me go on a walk. So instead I went on a hunt for the black Robin's Jeans pants for her (with black angel wings). However they discontinued them and the one store that we think has them was closed today. On Leigh's suggestion I also went to check out the Flea Market at Melrose & Fairfax. It was pretty gross... as all flea markets are, but one booth had a BEAUTIFUL white wood framed antique-ish mirror for only 150 bucks. I wanted it so badly... but it would be impossible to bring home. Someday when I live here i'll go back to that flea market and it'll still be there with my name on it.

I then went to wonderful Studio City because I wanted to go to a bookstore but I didn't want to battle the traffic in a mall parking garage. So i went to the barnes and noble that's in an old converted theatre and spent a lonnggggg time looking through books, I ended up with a stack of like 15 and then had the difficult task of picking one, because I knew I'd only read one in the time that i'm here and I don't wanna bring home stacks of books like I did last year. It came down to two very chick lit fluffy books: Tori Spelling's new book about raising kids in Hollywood and some book called Beverly Hills Adjacent. I chose the latter. Because although I looooove Tori, i'm not so into reading about raising kids in Hollywood.

Dave and I then had lovely threetimeteatime and devised a plan where we'll both go to graphic design school so we can get TN Visas and live here forever. He also told me many interesting things about "clown culture" after doing a photoshoot with a clown yesterday. Did you know each clown's face is trademarked? Did you know that clowns despise mimes and vice versa? Did you know there's a clown hierarchy? It's all very bizarre.

We're going to Kabuki for dinner and i'm sooooo excited.

Today is full of things that make me happy! All the previously mentioned events plus more:
-Talked to Ryan live from australia via fbook chat, he's not dead and he has friends.
-We dressed casual for dinner.
-Ryan (Shamray) came to dinner! We had wonderful conversations about cupcakes and where he should live in toronto and made plans for a wednesday morning hike.
-Roger called me a doll. I called him a peach.
-Dinner was delicious.
-After dinner pinkberry was even more delicious.
-Leigh was appointed Gala Chairwoman and I appointed myself her assistant! (Which means i'll be back in January)!

Quote from weird Italian man at pinkberry who had a large and wanted to sit with us: "if you're gonna do it, go all the way!"

Day 26
Absolutely BRILLIANT Day.

Woke up at 7:45 to help Leigh read/film lines for a play audition. Had breakfast. Went for a hike. The hike went by soooo quickly today - i'm not bored of it anymore, it's really really enjoyable!

Came home, found out the exciting news that Dave's Obama/Blame It video was on THE VIEW this morning!!!!!! CRAZY EXCITING!!!! I then packed up my surf gear and headed on down to HB. When I arrived I texted surfer drew, but in true Christine fashion, forgot to check my phone once I was ready and missed his text. But it turned out he was getting an oil change anyways. As I was getting my board out of the back of the truck I felt really cool because this old couple come up to me and are like "you look like you know what's going on here, where can we get some good seafood?" They thought i was a Californian! YES! Anyways, surfing was DREAMY today! The waves were so perfectly little and I was seriously getting up on every wave! It was outrageous! I was soooo happy! After surfing I tanned on the beach for a delicious hour (but unfortunately didn't get rid of my hiking beater tan). I then called Drew to make a surfing date for Wednesday and to ask advice on how to fix the cracks in my board. As I was arranging my wetsuit in the back of the truck for optimum drying while driving, these little skater kids come up and ask me what my tattoos are of. It was really funny. I felt like a hot surfer chick. I then picked up some epoxy whatever from HSS and headed for home - and barely encountered ANY traffic on the 405! It's a dream day!

I then stopped by Roger's and delivered a get well present because he's still dying. The latest: a candy corn sized growth on his tonsil. Hot.

Came home, showered, had dinner with Leigh, and we flipped a coin about whether or not we should go to coldstone (we did best 2 out of 3 and it ended up being a no go). So unfortunate. Again it's one of those days where i'll be consuming negative calories... should've got a cupcake!

GG party tonight with Christina and friends! YES!

LEIGH AND I JUST WATCHED DAVE'S VIDEO ON THE VIEW! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEePMrtfBhM

We cracked. We got Coldstone. But we walked there so it wasn't sooo bad.
Leigh: Mint ice cream, chocolate sauce, heath bar & brownie, Me: banana ice cream, chocolate sauce, brownie. Deeeeeelicious!

Day 27
I was supposed to fix my surfboard today but I didn't. Damn it.

This morning we had a leisurely breakfast ritual of eating and facebooking. Talked to Ryan again. He's still alive. Our only plans before pilates at 1 and 2 were to do the Beverly Drive hike and go find the Robin's pants, so we took or sweet time.

We got to Franklin Canyon (at the end of Beverly) and pretty much wandered around aimlessly because there were too many trails. But the thing was, they were either full-out road with cars on them, or off-the-beaten-path-one-foot-wide-mountain-lion-and-tick-city paths. So we didn't really get in much of a hike. We did find a really cute little lake with ducks that made us realllllly wanna go swimming at our cottages. Unfortunately there were no swimming allowed signs. But the water was really mucky so we definitely wouldn't have wanted to go in anyways... unless we built a sick raft Tom Sawyer style.

They didn't have the black pants, but they had some fabulous dusty-rose ones, but I'm pretty much fresh outta cash money (too scared to check my visa or bank balances) so I've banned myself from shopping.

Pilates was wonderful again, we made a pit-stop at Sprinkles after so I could get a cupcake to eat during prime time tv time, and then came home to eat our lunch at 4:00.

We're currently still outside drinking tea and playing on our computers.

Day 28
I'm tiiiiiiired.

I woke up at 6:30ish because of clatter in the kitchen made by a mysterious stranger. I think I fell back to sleep, but then I was awakened again at 7 by a text from Ryan saying he wouldn't be coming hiking because he had to take his cat to the vet. I tried to fall back to sleep for 45 more precious minutes, but it didn't happen.

Leigh and I did the hike, did abs, and then I headed south for HB. No surfing with Surfer Drew again because he had a job interview. Maybe Friday... The waves were wonderfully small again and it was fabulous. Tanned for two hours and then headed back on the grossly busy 405. Made a pit stop at Sprinkles for a chocolate coconut cupcake, got home, delivered some items to Leigh at rehearsal that she'd forgot and then came home and had dinner.

Tory: I know you like cottage cheese. I'm really obsessed with this Rachel's pear flavoured stuff that i mix with peanut butter, cinnamon and banana. The cheese/pb combo sounds gross but we all know how much I love mixing cream cheese and peanut butter on bagels so it totally works and it's delicious.

On the agenda for tonight: Leigh's at rehearsal til 10. I'm finally gonna watch the DH finale.

Excited for a relaxing day tomorrow: Hike, palazzo pilates & tanning, & cupcake tea party.

Derek: email me back.

Day 29
I'm making plans. No, not just your average plan, but an elaborate master plan of how I can move here. There are too many options though and I don't know what path to take... painting, interior design/graphic design school, nanny-ing, tutoring, trading identities with Courtney and just working at Sprinkles... (I definitely like that idea the best although it's definitely the most difficult).

My favourite bowls were on sale for $2 at anthropologie today so I bought 8 for my future Studio City two bedroom bungalow with pool that i'm gonna have. Four white, four baby blue. This was not a silly idea, this just means I have more incentive to make it happen. Maybe i'll even buy my sweet mirror at the flea market this sunday. No, that's kinda silly.

Today was my favourite day since L&R left me. Leigh and I went on the hike early (7:45) and SAW A COYOTE! I full thought it was a dog, but Leigh pointed out that it had no owner. It was hanging out in the middle of the path and then scurried off into the jungle... Then we went to the Palazzo for what i thought was 10 am pilates. I'm an idiot, it was (and always has been) 9:00 pilates. Not too sure what I was thinking. So we got free tazo tea & apples & granola bars, said hi to Vino (who i desperately love because he makes me feel like a million bucks) and made plans to be back for next week's pilates. We swam a mile's worth of lengths in the pool and then tanned on the gloriously comfortable chaise lounges for an hour and a half. On our way out we peeked into the snack room to see a heaping cake stand of blueberry lemon loaf stuff! Heaven.

Then we went to the Grove, searched for bikinis (L&R i think i might get the black striped roxy, the top is soooo flattering even though it's horrible for tanning), bought my bowls and discussed plans for me to move to LA.

Next stop was sprinkles where we got the prime parking spot directly in front (and got laughed at by a guy who watched me hit the curb while swerving into the spot - "it's alright, it's just a rental!") and there were 25 mins left on the meter! Once inside sprinks we picked a banana with vanilla icing, a red velvet and got a free lemon for whispering "fresh." Gotta love twitter.

Next: home for chill out time/threetimetea&cupcaketime. I researched schools and desperately want to go to FIDM for their 9 month interior design course. Daddykins would be so proud! Except definitely not so proud since that would be such a waste of my BA and BEd... and tuition is $25 000. It's okay, i'll just set up a lemonade stand... a fat burning lemonade stand!!! to raise the funds! Brilliant.

Next up on the agenda. Surfboard repair. However I didn't quite get to finish because I need some sandpaper and Leigh and Dave or the Brangelina contractors didn't have any!

Leigh's play opens tonight! She's there now. I'm in the backyard where i'll stay until it gets too dark to read and until my computer battery dies.

xo

Day 30
Today was my favourite alone day.

I had breakfast with Leigh and then ventured out on a solo hike while they got ready to go bike riding in Santa Monica. Came home from the hike, saw that Dave had kindly left several types of sandpaper on the stairs to my wing, and went out to sand my surfboard repair job. It's perfect.

I then packed up the truck and went to Malibu. Got to Franklin and realized I forgot my wallet (this is the second time i've forgotten my wallet going to malibu but this time i had to turn around cause i had things to buy after). Got the wallet, cruised down the traffic-free 101/malibu canyon road, and pulled up to a pretty empty Zuma Beach. Just the way I like it.

Surf conditions were Christine Perfect. Little. Only 4 other surfers in the water! It was sooo dreamy. After surfing I tanned for an hour, gave Roger some book suggestions because he says that he can't read James Frey because he's a douche bag, and then talked to my mom. Apparently Ryan called and said he didn't miss anyone except Berkley. My mom said they didn't miss him either! After trying to tan the sides of my body (soooo difficult), I went to Santa Monica.

I had to go to the Quik store cause it was apparently the only one in town that had the bikini that i was in hot pursuit of. They ended up having half of it. Correct bottoms, incorrect top. So I settled and got the top that has one brown boob and one animal print boob instead of the full animal print halter. Oh well, it's still really nice.

Today was a lovely day in Santa Monica and I discovered a new found love of the place. I think i'd still hate it on weekends though...

Next stop was whole foods to replenish my cereal supply and get some bananas. Then onto Sprinkles.

I pulled into a money spot once again, right outside the store. But there was a line today which sucked. However, the guy in front of me chatted up a storm asking me if i thought they'd give him 6 dozen cupcakes or if they'd tell him that he'd have to pre order them. I told him that he would probably be okay. He was on his way to a potluck birthday party in Malibu and decided to bring cupcakes. I wanted to go to this party. (Because I knew that probably only 2 of the 6 dozen cupcakes would be eaten and the rest would just sit there going to waste)! Anyways, so we get inside and he asks me for help on what flavours to get. So I picked out his 6 boxes for him and then he offered to buy me a cupcake! So, I got a free pumpkin from mystery man, and another free key lime for saying "Florida" (the secret password of the day). It was amazing! So tonight leigh and I are gonna have delicious tea & cupcake time when she gets back from her play. I can't wait.

Update. We just had our tea party and it was my favourite one yet. We sat in the living room (white couches match white iced cupcakes). The key lime was soooo fresh and delicious and the pumpkin was soooo warm-your-heart old faithful.

We then watched Dave's latest video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeOXT_oMHKE&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Etotallysketch%2Ecom%2F&feature=player_embedded

Day 31
Today was relaxing. Just what we needed!

Leigh and I woke up at 7:00 and were EXHAUSTED, but we wanted to do the Hollywood sign hike and needed to get back in time to go for lunch with Dave's cousin (Reesy & Leila - Cleophee - you know her right)?

Hike was grueling as usual. Lunch/brunch was wonderful as usual - L&R I got the banana berry pancakes! But then felt a little guilty cause it was literally a plate sized pancake, but it was soooooo delicious. But realistically the salad & peach cobbler of past visits was definitely the tastier choice.

Shopped at Barney's, Dave got jeans, Leigh got her wallet repaired, I got nothing. YES! Because I can't afford to shop anymore.

Came home, I tried to tan my sides (i'm looking very oreo-like these days... not a good look) while Leigh played on my computer and researched our potential Arizona roadtrip on Monday. We had a tea party, ate salads for dinner and then she left for the play.

Roger & Trey & Tristan are now on their way over... I kindly asked Roger if he could pick us up some cupcakes but he took his sweet time and they closed. The plan is to smoke 30 pounds of weed and then go to Bird's and drink 30 beers. Sounds like my kind of plan.

*Instead of that plan we went to Bird's, the boys ate 30 pounds of food, I had hot chocolate, Leigh got home from her play and didn't wanna come out so we went back to the house, the boys had a pow-wow in the backyard while Roger and I cuddled on the couch and discussed his tattoos.

Tomorrow Leigh and I will have a cupcake party and it will be "glorious," right Leigh? Chocolate Coconut and... ?

Day 32
Fabulous day (even for a weekend)! I realized today that I really don’t hate Memorial Day weekend at all. CLR usually hates weekends because everything is crazy busy, but the thing with Memorial Day is that all the LA people go outta town so only the tourist attractions are busy. It’s really very lovely actually. Anyways, Leigh and I planned to sleep in til 9, but unfortunately I woke up at 6:36 and couldn’t fall back to sleep for like half an hour. But then I did. And then I woke up at 9. We ate green cereal breakfast together, then ventured on the hike. She only went to the peak because she had to get back for her play, but I went to the top and then ran on the way down to the post – it was intense, because even though it’s “the way down” there were still uphill parts where I thought I was gonna die.

Got home, bid Leigh farewell, and headed on down to Beverly Hills to hit up Sprinkles (got THREE free cupcakes for showing our out of state I.D.’s – today’s “code”), went to Tory Burch in search of mom’s shoes, and then came back home.

When I arrived home Dave was like “do you want a massage?” because he and Leigh and arranged for a masseuse to come to the house but he had too much work to do and Leigh wasn’t home from her play yet, so I had a massage in the backyard and it was soooo wonderful!

After that, I checked my phone to find several messages from Roger so I gave him a call and said that we should go out for dinner. So he came to the house along with his entourage and we chilled out on the couch, made plans to get married when I move to LA, we all went to the grocery store and bought a million dollars worth of food and came back and cooked it. I made a salad while Roger barbecued and Dave milled around doing very important tasks. Trey and Tristan and Chris sat on their asses. After dinner we had a fire, Trey roasted me some delicious marshmellows, Leigh and I ate way too many chips, and we made Terrie’s wonderful cookies. It was a wonderful day. And now I have to get up in 3 hours to go to Phoenix! Goodnight!!

Day 33
4am wakeup call didn’t happen because I forgot to set my alarm. Thankfully Leigh woke me up at 4:30 and we were out the door (feeling reallllllly sick from eating too much the night before and soooooo tired since I had been woken up several times in the night: Henry barking, someone making food, Roger’s car). Anyways, our drive was soooo quick cause there was no traffic anywhere, and we pulled into the hotel exactly 5 hours later. It was beautiful! But SOOOOO hot. 100 degrees sucks. I don’t know how people can actually live there! We hung out by the pool, I could only tan for 15 minute intervals before I would literally liquefy and had to jump in the pool to solidify myself. We split a cobb salad for lunch, got drinks and had afternoon naps under the shade of an umbrella. Leigh’s soon to be brother-in-law Matt and his friends were all making fun of us for not getting drunk and for being no fun, but we loooooove being no fun.

Dinner was soooooo delicious. We went to a Hawaiian restaurant that had surprisingly amazing sushi, as well as two of the best alcoholic drinks I’ve ever tasted (leigh’s pineapple martini & my mango mojito). We split a bunch of rolls, matt got chocolate soufflĂ© for dessert and I got pineapple upside down cake (with coconut ice cream)!!

After dinner we had a photoshoot and were in bed by 10:30!

Day 34
We slept in til almost 9 and it was amazing! We got starbucks for breakfast and ate it by the pool, swam a mile in the pool, suntanned/shadetanned and then met Leigh’s mom & Matt for lunch. After lunch we hung out by the pool until 2:30 and then got our stuff ready and hit the road by three. We made a pit stop at starbucks to get my phoenix mug, were reallllllly tempted to get Coldstone (but we didn’t) and then we hit the road.

7:15 we roll into the Palm Springs outlet parking lot, geared up to do the impossible: conquer the world’s best outlet in 45 minutes. We split up to maximize time and ripped through the mall like bats out of hell! I don’t know how we did it but we managed to hit every store we wanted. I got my palm springs starbucks mug, a Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dress (black and white print obvi), green Cole Haan shoes to go perfectly with my Betsey dress and a roxy brown bandeau bikini top (because I had been searching for one). I was soooooo pleased with my purchases. We got back to the car soooo frazzled but soooo triumphant and thinking back to Phoenix, it felt like a whole other day.

We made it home in good time, resisted the temptation of never-ending In n’ Out’s along the side of the highway, and had dinner when we got home. Thankfully there was still barbecue food left.

Day 35
Hollywood Sign Hike. Ran for a large portion and made RECORD time (1 hr, 50 mins). Came home to a message from surfer drew saying that he wanted to surf, I wasn’t feeling it cause I already planned a day of not surfing, so instead Leigh and I went to Tory Burch to get my mom her shoes (they didn’t have them so they’re ordering them), went to Ralph Lauren to try on her bridesmaid dress for Ashley’s wedding (sooo beautiful!) and hit up sprinkles for a Peanut Butter Chocolate (which I totally forgot how good it was) and a Ginger Lemon. L&R – I CAN’T believe that you don’t like ginger lemon – it’s like a souped-up ginger molasses cookie!

Now we’re having threetimeteatime.

WestCoastBestCoast: Days 20, 21 & 22

Day 20
Farewell to my corporate sisters! Oh how I miss you already...
8:00 wake up call as usual, I had to go on a lonely hike since Leigh and Robyn had to pack and Leigh was going to pilates. I did the hike in record time (70 mins) because I ran from the batcave road all the way to home, and I saw Jennifer Garner. And I drank my fat burning lemonade along the way.

When it was time to head to the airport, we stopped at the Green store so they could get smoothies for lunch. Next stop was sprinkles to get cupcakes for our moms, and we decided to split an orange since we'd never tried it before. We had the most wonderful time sitting outside eating our cupcake, and the orange was soooo delicious!

Next stop was the airport and I was so sad to see them go! So then I went shopping to cheer me up. I went to Saks cause I hadn't been there yet, and got a long loose-ish black Vince tank, and a new pair of True Relig jeans. The jeans were the most exciting things ever because I actually fit into a 26! Must be the fat-burning lemonade starting to work it's magic!

After Saks it was time for my Frederic Fekkai haircut with Kelly! She was as wonderful as always, telling me about all kinds of boys that she wants to set me up with, agreeing with me that Robin's jeans are terrible for stretching out, and telling me that I need to move the Paint it Black studio from Toronto to LA.

Walking out onto Rodeo with freshly cut hair is a wonderful feeling. I then went to Club Monaco and bought a cashmere sweater and headed for home, rocking out to CLR's fave guilty pleasure song. I am still not at liberty to disclose what song this is.

At home, Leigh, Dave and Dave's friend Morgan and I gathered around the table to eat meagre dinners, and then I caught up on Desperate Housewives while Leigh did work for her play. Following DH, I brought Roger a magic get well drink from the green store that he didn't drink cause it was crazy spicy (ginger and cayenne pepper) and took Henry for a walk.

Day 21
Lonely hike once again cause Leigh had too much work to do. After hiking I got ready for Sprinkles with Alex Braff. I dropped my pink Razr off to be unlocked at a place on Melrose cause i'd had enough of trying to use my P.O.S. phone. I picked Alex up at his brothers apartment on Burton and then we went to Sprinks! (I also found out from him that I could've got my blackberry unlocked and still used it at home fine... but then i'd have to deal with a US data plan and it would just get complicated. Two pink phones is the way to go). So we went into sprinkles, split a vanilla milk chocolate and a chocolate coconut and then the best part ever.... since I joined the sprinkles fan club on facebook I get updates on code words to say to get free cupcakes! So we got a free strawberry. It was magical.

After eating our delicious cupcake lunch, I drove him to his friend's place, went to Fred Segal to smell Nicole Richie & Hilary Duff's fave perfume (too flowery for my liking), then came home and tanned in the backyard. Now i'm sitting in the shade, writing this, and trying to figure out what kind of dinner i can have that has a lot of protein. I'm gonna go to the grocery store.

Salad with chicken. Leigh and I were gonna go to ballet but we decided against it because we'd rather watch 90210 and Top Model. We had plans to go to her friend Juila's but had a lot of time to kill, so we decided to kill it at Urth with tea & pumpkin pie. While standing in line we were staring at the case of desserts. I commented on how good the pecan pie looked and leigh said "let's get it" I asked her if she meant instead or additionally, she meant additionally. I was shocked! I"m usually the bad influence when it comes to treats! We sat outside, ate our delicious pies (we split both the pumpkin and the pecan), were eavesdropped on buy a weirdo who then came over to our table and wouldnt leave us alone (it was really awkward) and then felt SO disgusting from eating so much sugar. Leigh was acting like she was drunk, it was hilarious!

We then went on a wild goose chase looking for Julia's house, resulting from Leigh mixing up her East and West and a street that had no street signs. Eventually we got there after calling for help not once, not twice, but thrice.

Day 22
Tiring day.

Woke up at 8, went for a pre-breakfast hike (which leigh says is very bad for me) at 8:30, had breakfast, had our gross aloe shots, then got ready for pilates with Leigh's pilates teacher! It was sooooo hard and soooo wonderful and she's really just the coolest and i wish that I could stay here and go to pilates every week. But I felt like the most disgusting thing ever because I watched the tail end of leigh's hour and she didn't sweat a drop, but i was sweating like crazy! Ew.

After pilates I went to whole foods and bought salmon for lunch and salad for dinner and more cereal. I then came home and tanned/napped/read in the backyard. Leigh came home and we went to a play at her school.

I'm bored of myself. I need surfer Drew to be done exams so we can surf every day or Roger to be done with swine flu so we can eat bagels.

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 19

Up & down day. It's L&R's last full day, so we needed to accomplish several things.
1. A hike. Unfortunately Robyn's cankle situation was out of control so she and Leigh just flip-flop walked along the road while Leigh Bush and I did the actual hike. I busted out my first dose of fat-burning lemonade and was sooooo confused when i mixed it into a litre of water and it tasted like a litre of water.
2. Tan in Malibu. Once again we took the scenic Malibu Canyon Drive, but to our dismay arrived in Malibu to pure clouds. (We'd checked the weather, it was supposed to be full sun by 11 am... the weather man lies). So we turned around and headed to:
3. Studio City. To get buckeyes for the Pascaris fam. Of course we had to get some for ourselves, and we got a blondie to split at threetimeteatime. Leigh also bought the dream book she had her eye on.
4. Americana Mall. Leigh Bush had to return a shirt, I had to investigate a J Crew situation for my mom.
5. Threetimeteatime. Which was actually a little after fourtimepourtime. LB left us to pick up headshots, so the three of us drank our tea and ate our treats in the backyard.
6. RawGreenLiveWhateverStore. LB wanted a greens drink, we went to investigate swine flu remedies, and I wanted to inquire about why the fat burning lemonade tastes like salty lemon juice when you buy it in store, and like water when you make it at home. The answer: "we put 2 whole lemons and a lime and a bit of agave nectar in ours, if you want a nice kick when you make it at home, do the same and add some cayenne pepper" - Rick. No thanks, i'd much prefer reaping the tasteless fat burning benefits. L&R stayed home and showered.
7. Sink Unclogging. The sink in our bathroom had been pretty clogged since we arrived and I decided to investigate the problem. First we decided to science experiment it up with baking soda and vinegar to try and dislodge whatever was down there. After that didn't work, i pulled out the plug thingy and realized the clog was just almost on the surface and consisted of a dime, a hair elastic, and some freshly cut hair. It was disgusting and i wore rubber gloves.
8. Katana Dinner. Our traditional last night in LA dinner at Katana was the end of a tradition. It was basically a disaster. Dave's mussels were rotten, leigh spilled them all over her shoes and lap, LP spilled water all over LB's shoes and lap, Robyn and I both suffered from Scorching Fire Mouth Disease after our spicy tuna rolls were excruciatingly spicy, and the crab rolls were nowhere near as good as Katsuya's. Oh the end of an era.
9. Anti-Swine-Flu-Delivery. Dave brought Roger some anti swine flu provisions which included oil of oregano pills, Activia & Jerry's Deli Matzo Ball Soup.
10. Car dancing party. One handed dancing (Dave & the crazy man would approve) to our favourite song that we actually hate. I won't disclose the name in fear of dying of embarrassment.
11. Gossip Girl. WAS AMAZING. Not only because Gwen & No Doubt were in it, but because I looooove Brittany Snow and think Chuck Bass is more dashing than ever!
12. Bedtime.

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 18

Happy Mother's Day!!! 7:45 wake up call! We laced up our sneakers, armed ourselves with ipods and waters and headed out to the Hollywood sign! It was sooooooooo much easier than last year - it was like a sick joke how easy it was! It only took 2.5 hours! AND it was sooooooo cool at the top because we went further than last year (to above the sign).

After our walk, we got ready for lunch at the Barney's restaurant. Before eating we stopped off on floor 3 and bought my Marc by Marc Jacobs bag! Huge Hillier Hobo! Yessssss. We got delicious lunch, more wonderful apple cobbler and then went grocery shopping for cupcake ingredients for Tre/Trevor's birthday tonight - Red Velvet. We made the cupcakes, forgot the vinegar (?), I commenced operation pants stretch round two and now we're sitting outside having 5:30 time tea time. We want Roger to bring us to Rob's Fantasy Factory.

Rock and roll!

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 17

BRILLIANT DAY! We decided that we needed some good poolside action so we rented a cabana at the London Hotel in West Hollywood. It was soooooooo outrageously luxurious and we loved every single minute! There was amazing sushi and raspberry mojitos and ice cream sandwiches and the BEST FRENCH TOAST i've EVER TASTED which was baked in a big ramekin bread pudding style with lemony sauce and berries and it was just wonderful! We logged some quality tanning hours, cuddled up on huge cuddly chaise lounges, swam 50 lengths and just felt like the luckiest kids in the whole entire world!

We stayed until evening time and then came home and decided to have a bonfire. After going on a wild goose chase for firewood that we ended up getting at the bottom of the street, and DYING of laughter resulting from Dave's drunken stories, Dave and I built a sick fire in the fireplace and collected marshmellow roaster sticks. Us girls cooked up some delicious smores, drank tea, and Roger came over and brought Henry so we could play with him. Cuuuuuuute night!

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 16

Today was the WORST DAY BY FAR… and it’s all because of Surfer Drew. (Not really, it’s all because Doheny waves were nonexistent. It’s only kind of because of Surfer Drew).

The plan was that I was supposed to call Drew at 8 and wake him up, he was supposed to check the surf reports, Doheny was supposed to be perfect, and we were supposed to have the best surfing day ever. That plan went to shit when Drew didn’t answer his phone, and Surfline.com told me that Doheny was “flat.” So we figured we’d head down to HB to surf, and by the time we got there we figured he’d be awake. He wasn’t. So we scoped out the surf (too big for us) and went to HSS to try and figure out a plan of action. We shopped, Leigh bought a bikini and we chatted with Mark. He and his Dad gave us the brilliant idea of going to Newport Pier because apparently the waves are smaller there. So they hooked us up with boards for Leigh and Robyn (like the good old days!), we strapped them in the back of the truck and headed down to Newport.

Newport was disappointing. Waves were absolutely perfect but it was soooooooo crowded. Leigh and Robyn chickened out. I went in but felt so guilty after getting in the way of so many people so I got out and we went back to our home sweet HB to tan. We returned the boards, Mark told us that Newport’s always crowded “everybody runs into everybody!” and we tanned on the beach for an hour.

Then came the drive home. The WORST drive home ever. Somehow because of ghastly traffic, it managed to take us OVER TWO HOURS to get home. It was a sick joke. We started going a bit crazy. I wanted to rip my hair out. Like, I wanted cupcakes soooooo bad, but I didn’t want to stop cause we knew the traffic on Santa Monica would only get worse the closer it got to 5… Leigh at least had a new bikini to be excited about. At one point I ended up doing a very illegal maneuver driving the wrong way down a one way street and pulling two illegal left turns just to escape the stop and go traffic that we’d been sitting in for like an hour.

We arrived home to what we thought was Angelina’s Range Rover on the street, Dave & crew filming a movie, and an apology message from Surfer Drew: DUUUUUDE!!! I KNOW YOU THINK IM THE BIGGEST *FLAKE* OF ALL TIMES, BUT!!!!!! IM MY BESTIES BDAY LAST NIGHT SO WENT TO GO SEE HER DJ SPINN AT SUM CLUB AND ENDED UP STAYING UP TILL 5AMMMM!!! HAVING AN HEART TO HEART BC SHE HAVING TUFF TIMES RIGHT NOW, THEN I SLEPT IN TILL NOON!! BUT ITS STILL FLATT IN DOHENY!!! Don’t worry Drew, we’re not mad. Maybe someday we’ll get to go to Doheny…

To get out of the way of the movie, to boost our morale, and to get some exercise we decided to walk to Pinkberry for dinner! I decided to invent an Almond Joy pinkberry: original pinkberry, double milk chocolate shavings and double coconut. It’s my new favourite. Definitely never would’ve thought I’d like plain pinkberry that much! Leigh and Robyn both got plain/pom twists with variations of coconut and coconut milk choc shavings. After eating our larges, we decided that we weren’t quite out of our bad day slump. So we pooled all our moneys and realized that we had enough for another medium to split! So we got it, the guy at the counter thought we were nuts, and then we walked home. So satisfying… but not as satisfying as a nice Vanilla Milk Chocolate Sprinkles Cupcake would’ve been… Maybe tomorrow. After our London Hotel pool party.

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 15

We got to sleep in today. We hadn't heard from surfer drew so we kinda assumed we weren't surfing. He called in the morning to say that there were no waves and we should try and go tomorrow. So we decided to switch our Hotel Belair high tea reservation to today.

We sat around and had a lazy morning with Leigh in the kitchen, eating breakfast and drinking water. We were paid a visit by Bradley Whitford's assistant who showed us her really cool website, and made me really excited to be Derek's assistant. Come on NewMediaAthletes*! We took our time getting ready for tea, and I called Planet Blue and found out that my pants had been transferred from the Malibu store, so we went to pick them up on the way.

We got to the store and I began the grueling process of trying to fit into these jeans. They're Erin Wasson for RVCA grey and white leopard print super skinny jeans. The problem is, the biggest size they had was a 27. So although they fit my waist just fine, getting them over my calfs and thighs is quite the arduous task! But, I got them on, and just spent several hours this evening trying to stretch them out.

Anyways, back to the day. Leigh and Robyn bought at shirt at Planet Blue as well, and then we went to Belair. We were pretty early (like half an hour early) for tea so we took a gander at the swans and then chilled out in the lovely lounge while we waited. The lounge was exactly what I want the library in my future house to be. Dark walls. Lots of wood. Leather furniture with gold studs. Baby grand piano. We were given almonds, cracker-chip things and wasabi peas to munch on while we waited. Robyn and I tasted wasabi peas for the first time and we liked them.

At 3:00 we were seated at the same table as last year, the lovely semi-circular booth! We opted out of the complimentary champagne since we didn't want any more alcohol in our systems, and they gave us delicious sparkling apple cider instead. Normally that sparking apple juice crap is disgusting, but this stuff was sooo delicious! We then ordered our teas (Lemon Verbena for Robyn, Lychee Green for Leigh, Long Life Green for me). They brought our sandwiches to us on plates (we were sad they weren't on a stand) and they were delicious. Cucumber cream cheese, curried chicken salad, egg/tomato, and really good smoked salmon. Thennnn they brought out our tea stand filled with amazing currant scones (with lemon curd as well as clotted cream!), a vast array of desserts and chocolate covered strawberries, and three cookies for each of us! It was soooooo good and we left there feeling sooooooo full! I do have to say that I still prefer High Tea at the Windsor Arms. You just can't beat they're monster sized scones and the fact that you're served your tea in different mismatched pots. And the little silver strainer things that go over your cups... I did like the Belair tea better than tea at the Plaza though...

After tea we went home, but on the way home Boom Boom Pow came on the radio. We despise the song, but instead of hating it, we decided that we should just have a car dance party. So we did. We then came home and hung out in the backyard for several hours and contemplated tough decisions about whether or not to go on a walk, whether or not to get fat-burning lemonade for dinner, whether or not to eat dinner at all, whether or not to walk to the grocery store and get smore ingredients so we could have a fire, whether or not to make chocolate chip cookies. We did none of the above. It was just the most beautiful day with the warmest winds ever and we were really much too lazy to get up off the comfortable patio furniture cushions. When Leigh got home from rehearsal we went inside and watched top model (I fell asleep again) and Grey's Anatomy (I cried my eyes out). Now i'm exhausted. Bedtime!!

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 14

Too busy to write this yesterday because yesterday was a crazy busy day! We packed sooooo much stuff into one day and today we're gonna be exhausted.

Got up and went to personal training with Danny in Brentwood at 10. We brought Leigh with us and picked up Dustin along the way because we were all going surfing after! Training was sooooooo hard this time, but really good because after I NEEDED to taste test some of the Susie Cakes cupcakes to see if they are in fact better than sprinkles... I tried the Red Velvet... AND IT WAS BETTER!!! I couldn't believe it. I thought nothing could surpass the magnificence of sprinkles red velvet, but Susie Cakes did it. Sprinkles icing is still my icing of choice, but the cake was just soooo red and much tastier! Leigh and Robyn got a Snickerdoodle cookie, and it too was amazing.

So we ate our baked goods on the 405 (kind of difficult for me while driving) and arrived in HB by noon. The waves were a LOT bigger than we like so we got tossed around a LOT, but it was Leigh's first time surfing and she got up!! After surfing we tanned on the beach for an hour and then came home. Once we were home, Leigh threw our keys into the eavestrough, we scrubbed our feet for hours to get the HB grime off of them, and got ready for dinner at the Chateau Marmont!

Dinner was fabulous. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take pictures outside, but it was reallllllly cool because Rose McGowan was sitting at the table beside us! We all had delicious meals (me - bass & asparagus & risotto, leigh - salmon & nicoise vegetables, robyn - chicken & peas & carrots), and then they had tea and coffee and i had a delicious banananananana split for dessert!!

Sean Penn is stalking us. After dinner we saw him once again, walking past us as we were leaving the restaurant. While waiting for our car @ valet, everyone thought it was really cool that we were driving a pickup truck with a surfboard in it. We felt cool.

After dinner we got home and us and Leigh & Dave & Christina met Dave's friends Roger & Chris at a bar called the Belmont. Of course some horrifically nerdy boys tried to talk to us and it was terribly awkward. After the bar, Leigh wanted pizza, I wanted treats, so Roger took us to Jerry's Famous Deli, which was closed, but they made us a pizza anyways. And then we got German Chocolate Cake and Banana Coconut Cake. We brought the deliciousness back to Rogers house and ate it, and played with his cute little puppy!

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 13

Low key day. But still wonderful. We woke up and went for our Griffith hike, and on our way back down we see a tiny pregnant girl and her trainer walking towards us. I saw hi to them, the trainer says hi, the tiny pregnant girl gives us a little smirk. Robyn and I then turn to each other and say "THAT WAS KATIE HOLMES!" It was really cool. Then while we were walking up to the street gate, Leigh ran over us with her car. It was also really cool. We went back to the house, got ready for the day, and then went to Studio City for treats and shopping! I desperately wanted to see Teri Hatcher because she is my new idol (but not really, no one will ever replace Gwen). Anyways, we went in all the cute shops, went to Big Sugar Bake Shop (our favourite bakery other than spinkles) and ate buckeyes (peanut butter chocolate balls), a brownie cheesecake square, and a bunch of free samples of orange loaf, brownies, peanut butter brownies, and pecan squares that the wonderful sales girl gave us! I just looooove the cute and empty atmosphere of the store and it was just a great environment for devouring tasty treats! As we were waiting at a stoplight leigh leans over and says "that's sean penn" referring to the man standing beside us at the light. Two celeb sightings in one day! And seriously good ones too. The only person we'd seen up til now was Hyde from That 70's Show walking down leigh's street (who Caleigh and I had randomly seen at a No Doubt concert in 2001 as well). So we were very impressed that we're being more observant and actually starting to notice people!

We then had a delicious lunch of granny smith apples and more peanut butter chocolate balls, hung out in the backyard with leigh, tanned (and sweated our faces off, literally) in the sizzling hot backyard and I swam in the fountain. I hope there aren't crazy fountain chemicals that are gonna make my skin fall off. My skin is looking okay so far.

Tonight we're going for dinner with Ex-Palazzo-Concierge William, and since he's Vegan, he's taking us to a raw food restaurant! We're really pumped, but also a little scared that it wont be a tasty satisfying dinner... i like warm food... So we've planned to go for Pinkberry with Leigh and Dave after dinner! Green Tea/Pom twist with double coconut and white chocolate shavings! (They have milk chocolate and white chocolate shavings as new toppings and i just have to try)!

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 12

Another lovely day. But of course every day is lovely here!

Rude awakening at 6:20 for Boot Camp in Griffith Park! I dragged Leigh and Robyn's asses there and I felt quite guilty one it had started. IT WAS BRUTAL! For some reason I figured it would all be crunches and push ups and squats and lunges... little did I know it was RUNNING UPHILL LAPS AND STAIRS. It was hell. But it was a realllllllly good workout. But we won't be going back.

After showering and eating the most satisfying breakfast ever we headed out to do some shopping! Fred Segal - unfortunately they didn't have my old english "c" necklace anymore... and unfortunately they had realllly cool new long pullover free city hoodies and i couldn't resist. Although I wasn't gonna let myself buy yet another hoodie, I had told myself that if i found a rEALLY cool one I could get it. And I decided that since I can't get my replacement HB hoodie, this one would be allowed. We then went to our old stomping ground - the grove. It was quite weird driving there instead of just walking across the street! L&R purchased a birthday present for Uncle Petey, I got a cute black dress at anthropologie, and then we went to barney's so I could stare at my future marc jacobs bag.

Next stop: Kitson. Got a mothers day present for my mom. Then onto Sprinkles!!!!! L&R got Lemon, Cinnamon Sugar & Banana Chocolate, Leigh and I got Lemon, Carrot & Banana Chocolate (we split them). We got Dave the cinco de mayo one that's chocolate with chocolate cinnamon icing.

We brought home the cupcakes and had a delicious tea party in the backyard. I then realized the present i bought my mom was full of pin holes so i had to run back and return it. We watched Bride Wars, made spinach soup for dinner (but it was actually spinach & blood soup since I cut my finger on the blender), now were watching She's All That and waiting for GG to begin! Post GG we're going to Urth Caffe for Oolong Tea & Pumpkin pie!!

I really really love the smell of fresh Free City.

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 11

Fabulous leisurely day! It was soo wonderful to wake up and not have to rush to do anything! We ate breakfast, and weighed the many options of how we could spend our day. We finally decided on starting the day with a visit to Greystone Mansion. It's a house that was owned by the Doheny Family during the 20's - 50's or something, and was the scene of the murder-suicide crime where the dad and his secretary were found dead. It was really beautiful. Although parts were closed off because of an event, you can't go inside the mansion, and the pool was filled in. But it was a sweet place for photo ops, and a sweet place for my future Beverly Hills wedding!

After exploring we went for the cutest lunch ever at the rooftop cafe at Barney's on Wilshire. It was such a quaint, classic restaurant, with such good food options. I was quite torn between the banana berry pancakes and the cranberry chicken salad. I went with the salad on account of the fact that I didn't think i'd be eating enough vegetables today. The three of us all got salads and they were fabulously delicious! And there was a girl at the table behind us that was eating literally a 4 cup bowl of oatmeal! It was huge! And a guy at the table beside us that would literally not stop staring at me, awkward. Because I can never resist tasty sounding treats, I ordered a peach cobbler for dessert that was to die for! After eating we perused the 3rd floor at Barney's and I spied my Marc by Marc Jacobs bag that i'm itching for... the Huge Hillier Hobo bag. In black. I desperately want the purple, but i'm not gonna spend that much on a purple bag. And i'm soooooo black and white right now.

After lunch we were in dire need of a pool to tan by, and Vicky was nice enough to drop her keys off at leigh and dave's so we could tan on her rooftop pool! Today was all about rooftops.

After getting nicely browned, we headed home, cuddled and researched Marc Jacobs bags, organized my finances and decided that I should buy the Hillier Hobo. Yes! We also booked reservations for dinner at the Chateau Marmont and high tea at the Hotel Belair! Then Leigh got home from rehearsal and we made plans to rent a cabana at the pool at the London hotel! So exciting. Then we did a little grocery shopping, and bought delicious banana almond cinnamon smoothies from the health food store for dinner. After a rousing game of word mole, we went downstairs and watched Desperate Housewives. Now it's time for me to go to bed, since we're waking up at 6:20 tomorrow to go to a boot camp class in Griffith Park at 7:15!

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 10

Day 10
8 am wakeup call as usual. Leigh's friend Dustin came over and we set out on our long grueling hike to the Griffith Observatory. In total it took us 4 hours, but we explored the observatory for about half an hour. It was soooooo rebel without a cause and also soooooo exhausting, but such a wicked accomplishment! After showering, we went to the health food store at the end of the street because Leigh said we had to get "super shots". These shots contained an ounce of ginger, cayenne pepper and chlorophyll, among other crazy healthy "live" things. The guy at the store takes pictures of everyone who drinks it and posts them on the wall because the facial expressions are so gruesome. So we drank the "shot" which was actually 4 ounces, got several snaps taken, and chased with limes and water. That stuff was SPICY!!! It was really very horrible and made your mouth burn for like 20 mins after, but i'm pretty sure it made me feel more energetic than I should feel after hiking for 4 hours...

After vegetable shots we went shopping on Robertson & Beverly. Leigh got a tank, I got two shirts. We then picked up chopped salads from La Scala (my FAVE) and had a picnic in the backyard! After dinner we went to the Los Feliz pinkberry which is wayyyyyyy closer than we remembered and were extremely excited to see that there's a new flavor (pomegranate) and it's even better than green tea!!! But we got a green tea/pom swirl for old times sake. With variations of coconut & yogurt chip toppings. It was soooooo fabulous.

Then we came home, watched desperate housewives and drank tea and packed for Vegas! But then disaster struck and we found out we couldn't go to Vegas anymore, so we frustratingly devised a new plan for tomorrow. Greystone Mansion/Katana. But all we really wanna do is tan by a pool. If only we just had a pool that we could tan by...

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 9

Day 9
Best day yet! And probably pretty hard to beat. We woke up at our usual 8:00 rising time, had breakfast, and piled into the pickup with Leigh and Dave (after spending lots of time figuring out how to best tie down my surfboard with butcher string) for a surf day at HB! We met Surfer Drew at the beach and he, Leigh & I surfed. Obviously I got up on my first wave and then fell every single other time except once. But I must say that me & Leigh's (improper grammar) nosediving skills score a 10 out of 10! After freezing our faces, toes & hands off, getting eaten by waves, getting hit in the head by my board and filling my sinuses with salt water, we decided we'd had enough. We sat on the beach for a bit while Leigh took some sweet snaps with Dave's camera, bid farewell to Surfer Drew and then began the fun task of surfboard bag arrangement in the trunk! My snot rockets were an endless source of entertainment as the girls watched salt water drip continuously and uncontrollably from my nose as i leaned over to tie down the surf bag.

It was then time for the best time of the day. HSS Chai Latte & Apple Muffin time! Leigh and I got chai lattes, I was the only one that got a muffin (warmed), we visited with Mark and saw pictures of his adorable little baby, and I was crushed to find out that they didnt have any HB hoodies in size small. (Mine is M.I.A.)

After a fabulous traffic free drive (thanks to Dave's iphone) we made it back to the house in time to go for a little afternoon hike (which was terribly tiring since we were already tired from surfing). After the hike we hung around and eventually got ready for dinner at the Dirty Heads concert. (In this meantime there was plenty more snot rocket action). We went to Urth Caffe for dinner, got salads and delicious coconut pie for dessert. We then made our way to the Roxy with perfect timing to see Dirty Heads. We talked to Surfer Drew, got stuck talking to several lose-bags, and then went home to rest up for our crazy long observatory hike tomorrow!!!

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 8

Day 8
FABULOUS DAY. We woke up at 8, and weren't quite sure what to do. We wanted to go for a hike, but had also missed a call the night before from Whitney Port's trainer about us working out with him today but he wasn't answering his phone. We decided that we'd just head over to Brentwood and meet him at his gym (and figured he'd call us back along the way). That's what happened. So we met him at Pro Gym in Brentwood - the cutest little area ever - we'd never been there before and I just love it)!! We had an hour training session - in an OUTDOOR area of the gym which was SO cool and he was telling us about all the celebs who work out there (Jessica Biel, Cindy Crawford, Kate Beckinsale, etc) and pointed out some girl who replaced Jennifer Garner in Alias and is in G.I. Joe. We had sooo much fun! Except he was hitting on us the whole time and it was kind of silly. After working out, Danny (the trainer) wanted to show us the Brentwood Lululemon next door to see if it was like the ones in Canada. Obviously it was. He then made a point of telling us he parked his car in their parking lot and got something out of his car (a corvette) because he probably wanted to show off that he can afford a corvette since he's a celeb trainer. It was funny because on our way to the gym we had a discussion about how we find guys who drive convertibles to be soooooooo unattractive because they're just trying to hard! It was funny. Danny also pointed out Suzy Cakes - the cupcake shop that hairdresser Kelly said was better than Sprinkles. We're gonna go next time!

After working out we took a lovely little route to santa monica (made me actually kinda like santa monica) and went up to what we think was Zuma beach in Malibu. It was the wonderful beach that we found 2 years ago and we now think it's probably zuma beach. We tanned our brains out (and got a little lobster-like in spots) and then went shopping in Malibu. I found my Robin's black pants in white and rich and skinny boyfriend jeans that i really really want. But I didn't buy anything yet... Leigh got wicked Oliver Peoples aviator-type sunnies! After that we drove home along Malibu Canyon Road, made delicious spinach soup for dinner and then went for a walk. After walking we watched 90210 and dancing with the stars and I ate the most delicious cottage cheese ever - Rachel's Pear Mangosteen Cottage Cheese (Caleigh - remember how good rachels yogurt was in NY?) and it was soooooooo good! Now we're completely exhausted from our day so we're going to sleep!

Really excited for tomorrow - Surf's Up HB!!

WestCoastBestCoast: Day 7

Day 7
Early morning Griffith Park hike! My legs were severely hurting from Chief climbing & backcountry sledding leftovers, but the hike actually loosened them up a bit. Then it was time to pick up our rental car! We headed over to sunset and drove out of the lot in a hot black GMC Canyon pickup truck! Leigh and Robyn weren't too into it at first, but I know it'll grow on them! And for $700 bucks for a month, how could we refuse!? Then it was errands time. We hit up several grocery stores before locating my wheat free cereal and Voss bottles, but Whole Foods had us covered! It was then onto Sprinkles for threetimeteatime rations, and to AT&T to fill up my phone. We met Leigh and her friend Dustin back at the ranch and sat on the porch and ate cupcakes and watched funny you tube videos and gossip girl. Now we're getting ready for dinner at Katsuya!

Dinner was absolutely amazing. I think I liked it better than Katana! We got amazing baked crab handrolls (not in seaweed, in something else that was soft) and spicy tuna on deep fried rice things and they were both soooooooooo good, Leigh got almond crusted scallops, and Robyn and I split a rainbow roll and a sauteed shrimp roll (california roll covered in sauteed shrimp, asparagus & mushrooms). We then were wondering whether or not to get dessert, but noticed there was a lemon raspberry baked alaska on the menu and we'd always wanted to try one, so we got it (and dedicated it to Jonny-Cakes because he's always wanted to try one too).
